Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Auto body degree
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs., bending, crawling and being on feet for 8 plus hours per workday
  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading

Nice To Haves

  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Operating or tending painting machines to paint surfaces of equipment
  • Preparing metal surfaces for paint
  • Operating or tending the blast booth to prep for paint and weld surfaces
  • Pouring paint into spray gun and spraying specified amount of primer or finish coatings onto prepared surfaces
  • Mixing paint per company requirements
  • Selecting paint according to company requirements and matching colors of paint following specified color charts
  • Regulating controls on portable ventilators and exhaust units to cure and dry paint or other coatings
  • Stripping, greasing, cleaning dirt, paint and rust from projects, using abrasives, solvents, brushes and sandblaster
  • Setting up portable ventilators, exhaust units, ladders and scaffolding
  • Operating lifting and moving devices to move equipment or materials to access areas to be painted and/or blasted
  • Disassembling sprayer and power equipment, such as sandblaster and cleaning equipment and hand tools, using solvents, wire brushes and cloths
  • Mixing, stirring and thinning paint or other coatings, using spatula or power mixing equipment
  • Cleaning parts by using a pressure washer that injects a phosphate cleaner into the water stream, then spraying the parts with a sealer
  • Transporting racks containing parts to the paint area to stage for painting
  • Working with the painter to set up an even flow of parts and to meet daily department needs
  • Assisting in the plugging of threads and the masking of unpainted areas
  • Understanding waste management and clean up procedures
  • Following scheduled provided by paint lead
  • Properly cleaning and maintaining PPE
  • Completing necessary safety checks daily
  • Controlling shot blast media levels
