About The Position

As a Painter Prepper at United Rentals, you will prepare equipment surfaces and apply paints, enamels, stains, shellac, varnishes, and other finishes. You will coordinate daily priorities with the Lead Painter, prepare equipment and painting tools, apply primer and base coats, and inspect completed work and the work area. This position is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
0–2 years of experience.
Occasional work at heights above 10 feet.
Ability to wear a respirator and/or hearing protection as required.
Ability to bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily priorities with the Lead Painter.
Confirm the correct paint colors for each unit.
Bleed air from the compressor to ensure there is no moisture.
Clean and inspect the paint gun.
Inspect prepped units for quality.
Apply pre-cleaner with a tack rag to clean surfaces.
Wear required protective equipment, including a head cover, paint suit, respirator, and gloves.
Apply primer to exposed metal and apply the base coat.
Conduct a final inspection of each unit to ensure the work was completed accurately.
Maintain tools by cleaning and flushing paint guns and returning tools to their designated places.
Inspect the work area to ensure the booth is left as it was before the painting process.
Perform other duties as assigned.
