About The Position

This role involves painting, staining, enameling, varnishing, lacquering, and redecorating interior and exterior surfaces. The painter will mix paint, match colors, and apply coatings using various tools such as cloths, brushes, sprayers, rollers, and sponges. Responsibilities also include removing old finishes, filling holes and cracks with plaster or other fillers, and potentially replacing glass in doors or windows. The position requires requisitioning painting supplies and equipment and participating in special projects as needed.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.
1+ years of related painting experience.
Paint and Lagging Experience per NAVSEA STANDARD ITEM 009-11 Title: Insulation and Lagging.
US citizenship required

Preferred experience in marine painting and Lagging per the NAVSEA STANDARD ITEM 009-11 Title: Insulation and Lagging.

Responsibilities

Removes old finish using scrapers, chemical compounds, or a blowtorch.
May fill nail holes, joints and cracks in walls with plaster or other filler.
May replace door or window glass.
Requisitions new painting supplies and equipment.
Participates in special projects, as required.
