About The Position

The Painter III is a subject matter expert and leads the painting team, overseeing all painting activities for the exterior of pipes. This advanced role involves mentoring and training junior painters, ensuring adherence to company guidelines, safety regulations, and high-quality standards.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in painting with solvent-based paints in an industrial setting.
  • Deep knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to paint application and chemical handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex work orders and provide clear instructions.
  • Proven track record of producing high-quality work with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Additional certifications or training in painting techniques and safety preferred.
  • Expertise in advanced painting techniques and the operation of specialized painting equipment, including automated systems and advanced spray technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of painting formulations, including high-performance coatings and specialized finishes.
  • Experience in leading teams, providing training, and mentoring less experienced painters.
  • Proficiency in implementing and optimizing painting processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for addressing complex painting and equipment issues.
  • Proven track record of ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including early or late hours, weekends, or overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and lead the preparation of surfaces of pipes and column tubes for painting, including advanced techniques for cleaning, sanding, and priming.
  • Apply paints using spray guns, brushes, or rollers with expert precision, ensuring exceptional coverage and finish quality.
  • Conduct comprehensive quality inspections of painted surfaces, addressing and resolving any defects or imperfections.
  • Implement solutions to improve painting processes and quality.
  • Manage and record detailed production metrics, including paint usage, work hours, and materials used for each project.
  • Prepare and present reports on production performance and efficiency.
  • Lead the management and maintenance of painting equipment, including spray guns, hoses, and paint booths.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained to the highest standards of functionality and longevity.
  • Provide leadership and training to Painter I and Painter II team members.
  • Mentor and guide them in best practices, safety protocols, and advanced painting techniques.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing painting processes and implementing best practices to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Perform other duties assigned by any lead, supervisor, manager or other leader.
