About The Position

The Painter I sprays the surfaces of machines, manufactured products, or work areas with protective or decorative materials. At SPM Oil & Gas, a Caterpillar company, the role supports the production of engineering solutions and customer service by preparing products and paint supplies, painting parts according to work instructions and other specifications, and maintaining production records and a safe, orderly work area. The position has a regular schedule of 10 days on and 4 days off, with overtime based on business need. Relocation assistance and sponsorship are not available. Starting pay is $23 per hour and may be adjusted based on experience.

Requirements

Minimum of three to six months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to pass a fit test to ensure the painting mask fits properly and eliminates potential safety hazards.
Limited facial hair due to the requirement to wear a painting mask.
Must be able to wear protective footwear and other Personal Protective Equipment as required by the department.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Prepare products for painting.
Prepare paint supplies for the applicable product.
Complete daily production logs to meet environmental and safety standards.
Perform daily preventative maintenance of the work area.
Maintain routine housekeeping to eliminate workplace hazards.
Paint parts according to work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, blueprints, Risk Assessments, and job routers.
Work with the Material Coordinator on inventory levels to ensure production levels are maintained.
Perform other duties as assigned.
