About The Position

A Painter/Assembler is responsible for both applying protective and decorative coatings to surfaces and assembling components into finished products. This role involves running parts through a parts washer, configuring parts for painting, cleaning parts, monitoring supplies, maintaining equipment, reporting progress, and safely handling materials. The Painter I position is an entry-level role focused on foundational painting and assembly tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must be able to pass forklift certification test and drive a forklift.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Strong attendance and dependability by consistently reporting to work on time and completing assigned tasks accurately.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment, follow all company policies and procedures, and apply a high level of attention to detail and focus.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members to support productivity and operational efficiency is also essential.
  • Follow all safety directives and protocols at all times and help identify potential hazards or violations that should be addressed to ensure personnel and facility safety are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Run all parts through parts washer, configure parts on rack or table, and paint with specified finish
  • Clean all parts too large to run through parts washer with solvents before painting
  • Monitor painting supplies and notify supervisor of low stock levels
  • Maintain painting and spray booth equipment and notify supervisor of any issues
  • Properly assemble and package per instruction with the use of hand and power tools
  • Daily progress reporting of tasks completed
  • Properly stack and secure parts to pallets or racks and move them safely with a forklift
  • Notify supervisor of issues or shortages
  • Properly stow all materials and tools when tasks are completed
