About The Position

The Paint Prep position is responsible for the preparation of cabs and parts prior to painting for Spartan’s emergency response cabs and bodies.

• Body and paint experience preferred
• Working knowledge of application of fillers, putties, and primers

• Able to: Be exposed to high dust & chemicals
• Able to: Work overtime on short notice
• Able to: Be willing to Wear PPE respirators for extended amount of time
• Able to: Learn and rotate within all areas pertaining to this job description
• Able to: Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
• Able to: Develop a working knowledge of Spartan’s systems (example: AS/400)

Responsibilities

• Sanding of cabs in primer state as well as aluminum state
• Washing of cabs parts before and after primer
• Masking of cabs to create several tones per vehicle
• Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete duties in assigned area
• Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area
• Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or area
• Self-check work and inspect prior processes
• Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
• Meet production goals
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Initiate process improvements
• Support 5S in work area
• Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
• Work in close proximity with customer, as needed
• Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
