Paint Technician Apprentice will receive training in all aspects of production painting in an industrial environment including but not limited to repairing paint jobs, preparing surfaces to be painted, removing parts that are not to be painted, and controlling factors that determine the success of painting, along with maintaining inventory, inspecting materials to identify problems/defects.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to use the computer to account for own labor hours every day
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by performing and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management
  • Must maintain a safe working environment for self and for others
  • A self-starter with strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to pass pulmonary test and respirator fit test
  • 1 year experience in auto body, repair and paint
  • Ability to travel between offices, as required
  • Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language

Responsibilities

  • Various painting projects with provided training may include but are not limited to various types of fleet vehicles, containers, compactors, and equipment
  • Prepping duties including sanding, scraping, painting, and placing decals
  • Maintenance of truck pressure washer including clean up and inventorying supplies
  • Ensure all safety decals are on completed jobs
  • General maintenance, body work and vehicle repair as needed based on location
  • Maintain painting and/or decal supplies
  • Complete required inventory and paperwork utilizing computer system
  • Utilize standard shop hand tools, measuring devices, and equipment
  • Professional interaction with internal and external customers.
  • May assist in other projects or areas of the shop as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, while performing all tasks in a safe manner, and in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, OHSA, ANSI standards and company policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned
