About The Position

Part of Dover Corporation’s Engineered Systems segment, Vehicle Service Group (VSG) is a strong, diverse and dynamic global leader in the vehicle service industry. VSG comprises 13 major vehicle lifting, wheel service, diagnostic and collision repair brands. This role involves applying prepared paints, lacquers, or enamels to products where a medium quality finish is required. The operator will thin paints to the proper consistency and viscosity for spraying or brushing application and adjust equipment to obtain the finish requirements and economy. The position may also involve masking, maintaining equipment, and keeping the work area clean. Work assignments are subject to process checks and final inspection. The operator must be able to read and write and have normal color vision. The operator may be required to drive a fork truck to move parts to and from the paint booth area. This role performs other work of a similar or comparable nature incidental to the performance of the operation and assists new operators in learning the correct and safe operation of equipment when required.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds repeatedly – a minimum of 2 times per day.
  • Operator is required to be able to read and write.
  • Operator must have normal color vision.
  • Operator may be required to drive a fork truck to move parts to and from the paint booth area.

Responsibilities

  • Makes own set-ups including filling of paint pots.
  • Cleans and maintains spray guns.
  • Checks to see that parts to be painted are ready for painting.
  • Adjusts angle of spray nozzle for multiple head spray painting.
  • Adjusts regulators to set air pressure and paint volume.
  • Loads and unloads conveyer when used.
  • Frequent climbing up and down scaffolding.
  • Uses electrical or mechanical hoists as required.
  • Directs flow of parts to and from area.
  • Directs work of helpers when used.
  • Records number of parts painted on time card and on move ticket.
  • Keeps booth and work area clean using prescribed materials for floor coating and booth coating.
  • Receives job prints, work order, and/or instructions from supervisor and proceeds with a minimum of supervision and direction.
  • Apply prepared paints, lacquers or enamels to all products where medium quality finish is required.
  • Thin paints to proper consistency and viscosity for spraying or brushing application and adjust equipment to obtain the finish requirements and economy.
  • May do masking.
  • Maintain and keep equipment and area in a safe, clean condition and working order.
  • Performs other work of similar or comparable nature incidental to the performance of the operation.
  • Assists new operators in learning the correct and safe operation of the equipment when required.
