About The Position

Skills Inc., a large aerospace supplier in Washington State, is seeking an experienced Paint Scheduler to enhance painter efficiency through effective job ordering, setup, and preparation of aerospace parts and paperwork. As a non-profit organization, Skills Inc. is dedicated to training, employing, and serving individuals with disabilities and the community.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, communicate and/or follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate in English through voice, or American Sign Language or adaptive technology.
  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • At least three to five (3-5) years in positions requiring attention to detail and scheduling.
  • Constant standing and walking throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift or move 25 lbs constantly and up to 40 lbs occasionally.
  • Occasional sitting at a workstation.
  • Frequently grasp and utilize fine manipulation.
  • Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent exposure to moderate noise.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals and fumes.
  • Frequent interaction with liquid, aerated and solid dangerous waste.
  • Frequently wear eye protection and occasionally wear gloves and/or face masks.
  • If required to wear a respirator, must be clean-shaven daily.

Nice To Haves

  • Skilled in basic computer functions in a Windows environment and basic literacy in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply basic mathematical skills to the work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, team oriented and ability to deal with a wide variety of personalities and communication styles.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Skill in prioritizing and managing a fast-paced work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform set-up for painting, including filling out and maintaining paperwork, and coordinating work flow with painters.
  • Count parts prior to processing and check for missed processes.
  • Utilize production work orders, documents, drawings, specifications, and instructions to meet production requirements.
  • Report defective equipment, materials, and faulty operations to the supervisor.
  • Maintain written and Visual Manufacturing records.
  • Handle hazardous materials safely, including adding waste to containers, transferring waste to accumulation bins, and labeling containers.
  • Mix paint and manage the mixing room.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) effectively, ensuring the area of the face where a respirator seals is clean and hair-free.
  • Fill out appropriate paperwork for paint work orders.
  • Manage paint shop supplies.
  • Prepare primer for topcoat by sanding.
  • Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with others.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
  • Follow work rules and standard safety regulations.
  • Maintain safe working practices and ensure the work area is clean and free of unsafe situations.
  • Mix paint for painters and for touch-up purposes.
