Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in surface preparation, automotive bodywork, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of hand and power sanding tools and techniques.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and safety instructions.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks.
• Attention to detail is critical to identify and correct imperfections that could compromise the final finish.
• Effective communication skills help coordinate with painters and supervisors to maintain workflow and address any issues promptly.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and proper tool handling ensures a safe working environment and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess surfaces for imperfections, rust, or damage prior to painting.
• Perform sanding, grinding, and cleaning of surfaces to prepare them for paint application.
• Apply masking tape and protective coverings to areas not to be painted.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently to achieve smooth, even surfaces.
• Collaborate with painters and production staff to ensure timely completion of prep work.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Report any surface defects or issues that may affect paint quality to supervisors.
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
