About The Position

The Paint Prep is responsible for preparing metal components and assemblies for painting by grinding, sanding, deburring, and inspecting surfaces to ensure proper finish quality. This role supports production operations by ensuring all parts meet paint-readiness standards while maintaining safety, efficiency, and quality in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Background check and pre-employment drug screening required.
  • Ability to operate grinders and basic hand tools.
  • Strong attention to detail with good eye/hand coordination.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to solve basic mathematical equations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and accurately use a ruler or tape measure for measurements required in production tasks.
  • Ability to interpret work instructions, specifications, and drawings.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and apply common-sense problem solving.
  • Reliable attendance and willingness to meet overtime demands as required.

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years of related experience and/or on-the-job training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare metal parts and assemblies for painting through grinding, sanding, and deburring.
  • Operate hand tools and grinders to remove surface imperfections and sharp edges.
  • Inspect surfaces to ensure materials meet paint-readiness and quality standards.
  • Identify materials and follow work instructions, drawings, and specifications accurately.
  • Move parts and materials on and off machinery and throughout the facility as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area prior to paint operations.
  • Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to meet production schedules.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
