About The Position

The employee prepares manufactured machinery for paint by cleaning off any unwanted residue or particles from parts/equipment. Also fixing imperfections. This is an entry level position that requires basic prep knowledge such as sanding, scraping, chipping welds, taping parts not to be painted, and pressure washing parts/subassemblies. The role also involves operating a forklift (or willingness to learn), using a 3-wheel hydraulic cart to move machines, practicing good safety, and wearing required PPE. The employee will learn to operate LEEBOY equipment, identify colors assigned to parts, operate a pressure washer with chemicals, use hand, air, and electric tools for various tasks, fix basic metal imperfections using putty, use an air blower, set up paint booths, load/unload paint booths, and move parts to correct production line locations. The employee will also inspect parts/machines for paint imperfections and return them to the prep area if needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Degree)
  • Basic prep knowledge (sanding, scraping, chipping welds, taping parts not to be painted, pressure washing parts/subassemblies)
  • Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to learn
  • Ability to use a 3-wheel hydraulic cart
  • Willingness to practice good safety and wear all required PPE
  • Ability to learn to operate LEEBOY equipment
  • Ability to learn colors assigned to each part or subassembly (yellow, black and gray)
  • Ability to operate a pressure washer/operate valve to introduce chemicals to the washing process
  • Ability to use hand tools, air tools and electric tools for sanding, grinding, buffing, cleaning up welds and cleaning booths
  • Ability to fix basic imperfections (rust spots/scratches/gouges/dents) in metal with air tools/grinders/sanders removing imperfections, filling in using putty (polyester putty or Bondo)
  • Ability to use an air blower over parts/machines after going through the pressure washing process
  • Ability to set up paint booths with machines, parts, or parts rack
  • Ability to load/unload paint booth
  • Ability to move parts from racks to correct locations for production lines
  • Ability to inspect parts/machines for imperfections in paint
  • Ability to stand

  • Fixes basic imperfections (rust spots/scratches/gouges/dents) in metal using air tools/grinders/sanders, and fills them using putty.
  • Uses an air blower over parts/machines after pressure washing.
  • Sets up paint booths with machines, parts, or parts rack.
  • Loads/unloads paint booths.
  • Moves parts from racks to correct locations for production lines.
  • Inspects parts/machines for imperfections in paint and returns them to the prep area if needed.
