Paint Prep Operator - 1st shift
About The Position
The Paint Prep Operator operates phosphatizing equipment (power washer/spray wand) to prep parts for painting. This role also involves operating power hand tools such as a hand grinder, dual action (DA) sander, and wire wheels. A key requirement is the ability to work with phosphatizing chemicals to ensure all parts are correctly prepared prior to painting for optimal paint adhesion. The operator must maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area, notify supervisors of any equipment issues, and maintain accurate records. Additionally, the role requires the operation of a powered industrial truck (forklift) and overhead cranes. The ability to read and speak English is necessary.
Requirements
- Ability to work with phosphatizing chemicals.
- Must have ability to read and speak English.
- Good reading skills.
- Powered hand tool skills.
- Ability to operate a powered industrial lift (forklift) and overhead crane (on the job training provided).

- Blueprint Reading skills preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operates phosphatizing equipment on an assortment of products.
- Sets up and maintains equipment.
- Ensures products are correctly prepared.
- Works in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities.
- Maintains a neat, clean and organized work area while performing paint prep duties.
- Notify direct supervisor of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly.
- Maintains accurate records of time and quantities, etc.
- Operate powered industrial truck (forklift) and overhead crane(s).
