About The Position

Braun Industries is seeking a Paint Operator for their 1st Shift in Van Wert, OH. This role is responsible for preparing vehicles for the painting process, performing high-quality automotive painting on various vehicle components, and applying interior and exterior grade linings. The operator will also assemble and apply stripe layouts according to established prints and designs, or create new ones. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years prior working experience in automotive painting with AXALTA paints
  • Experience with multi-color painting applications
  • Experience with formula mixing and color blending
  • Experience with bodywork, sanding, masking, hand/air tools and tape measure
  • High cooperation with bodywork and vehicle prep departments
  • Ability to pass spirometric testing and physical requirements
  • Cleanliness and operation of equipment including earplugs, respirators, spray gun and hoses
  • Complete all work as detailed in the summary of responsibilities of this position profile at acceptable productivity and quality levels
  • Demonstrate all technical skills/competencies and core skills as referenced in this job specification at acceptable productivity and quality levels
  • Demonstrate reasonable and reliable attendance
  • Maintain any required licensures and/or certifications
  • Operate all job-related equipment or machines at acceptable productivity and quality levels
  • Successfully pass a post offer drug test, as well as random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol test thereafter
  • Ability to lift and move up to 100 pounds with assistance, regularly require to walk, talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, stand, crouch and kneel; frequently required to use hand to finger dexterity in order to handle objects, tools, and/or controls; occasionally required to stoop or crawl

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review and interpret instructions and prints for each unit or job.
  • Plan details of working procedure, tooling and material requirements.
  • Sand module, chassis and other assembly parts as needed.
  • Mask and unmask module and chassis as needed.
  • Assemble and disassemble module and chassis.
  • Apply the stripe layout and paint vehicle’s stripe and paint the vehicle’s chassis and module.
  • Mask off and unmasking the chassis and module.
  • Degrease the stripe area.
  • Apply all coating/lining products to require vehicle assemblies both manufactured and purchased.
  • Perform formula mixing and color blending, painting of single stage, base/clear coat or tri-coat applications.
  • Verify and inspect the final finish.
  • Perform layout and lettering design and application.
  • Touch-up minor defects from paint operation.
