About The Position

The Detailer/Paint/Fiberglass Technician II reports to the Fiberglass Manager and is responsible for performing various duties related to gel coat and paint maintenance, repair, and application. This role requires adherence to customer satisfaction, company sales, and safety standards. The position involves working 5 days a week, 8 hours per day, with marina operating hours ranging from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and potential seasonal schedule changes. The technician will assess gel coat conditions, perform cosmetic repairs, apply epoxy, and work with fiberglass cloths, bottom repairs, and simple laminations, all while maintaining industry standards and following safety procedures.

Requirements

• Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
• High school diploma or GED required
• Valid driver's license required
• 5+ years of experience in fiberglass repair and paint finish application (preferably marine, but not required)
• Must provide own hand tools
• Ability to speak and read English in order to follow instructions on work orders as well as understand product and manual instructions
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job
• Must be able to complete assigned work in an efficient and timely manner
• Strong work ethic and personal commitment
• Ability to work in a team environment to achieve team, department, and company goals
• Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
• Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work

Responsibilities

• Assess condition of gel coat and recommend proper maintenance protocol
• Polish and wax gel coats and various painted surfaces
• Choose, mix, and apply epoxy to wood or FRP
• Perform gel coat/paint cosmetic repairs
• Apply knowledge of various fiberglass cloths and their applications
• Apply knowledge of proper operation of hand and hand-held air/electric tools
• Apply knowledge of bottom repairs and painting procedures
• Grind and layup simple laminations
• Understand the proper uses of marine grade fairing materials and woods
• Maintain finishes to industry standards
• Follow all procedures pertaining to safety and personal protection equipment
• Ensure quality of work performed
