About The Position

The Paint / Body Worker (Body Shop) position is responsible for finishing cabs and parts to Spartan’s quality standards, prior to painting. This role involves repairing defects, performing presanding, applying body filler, roll priming, sanding, and metal finishing as needed. The individual will also participate in lean events, learn and retain skills for their assigned area, and wear respirators for extended periods. Work may involve being off ground-level, on ladders and lifts, and reading operator instructions. Understanding and articulating body shop and paint processes, self-checking work, and inspecting prior processes are key. The role requires using basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, meeting production goals, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. Initiating process improvements, supporting 5S, and communicating with cross-functional teams to resolve issues are also part of the responsibilities. The role may involve working in close proximity with customers and solving complex problems with minimal assistance.

  • 3 years of body shop experience
  • Strong knowledge of metail finishing
  • Working knowledge of application of fillers, including polyester fillers, putties, and primers
  • Demonstrate high quality body work
  • Able to tolerate very high heat temperatures
  • Able to be exposed to high dust & chemicals
  • Able to work overtime on short notice
  • Willing to improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
  • Willing to develop a working knowledge of Spartan’s systems (example: AS/400)

Responsibilities

  • Repair defects
