About The Position

Our 250+ local customer service centers (CSCs) are supported by regional operations teams located throughout North America. This Mechanic position is responsible for repairs to all aspects of vehicles and/or school buses under direct supervision of immediate supervisor or Tech I. Repairs will include but not be limited to: preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, air and hydraulic brake repairs, warranty procedures, driveline, steering & suspension, electrical trouble-shooting and AC. Complies with Safety and compliance procedures and continues to learn new technology in advanced diagnostics, internal engine and transmission repairs. To receive training and hands-on experience to learn to perform the tasks of the trade safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Must successfully pass Tech II screening.
  • High School Diploma (GED equivalent) or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Two years’ experience in automotive or truck technical repair hands-on and/or two years of vocational training.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Valid appropriate licenses and/or certification required to operate company vehicles in assigned location must be obtained within 90 days
  • Possession of tools required for the position as outlined in the Tool Requirements Policy (except for the state of California).

Responsibilities

  • Works under the direct supervision of immediate supervisor or Tech I to receive hands-on training.
  • Automotive repairing for school buses, motor coaches and automotive repairing, and painting.
  • Performs assigned vehicle and facility maintenance related duties as assigned in a safe and timely manner
  • Arranges for and obtains appropriate inspections and approval of all repairs before vehicle is released from maintenance facility.
  • Performs road calls and on the road repairs as assigned.
  • Test-drives vehicles to ensure problem resolution.
  • Ensures proper work methods and techniques and ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State/Provincial and local regulations, requirements, standards and specifications and company policies.
  • Ensures the maintenance of a clean, safe, effective and efficient work environment including Identifying and making recommendations to resolve unsafe maintenance conditions or practices.
  • Maintains work, time and material and equipment maintenance logs and records for self.
  • Prepares, completes and submits paperwork on time and correctly on vehicle maintenance
  • Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior with their supervisor or manager
