About The Position

Responsible for the painting process, including mixing of paint, preparation, and application. Materials to be painted include various metals, particularly carbon steel. Maintain inventories of paint. Perform other work as directed. This is a full-time position that may be combined with other work based on the individual's skills and experience. When not performing painting work, the employee will be assigned other tasks. The role involves frequently lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds and operating cranes to lift/move items weighing over 50 pounds. Safety is paramount, requiring adherence to company safety rules, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and additional protective equipment for special assignments. A beard is not permitted when wearing a fitted respirator while painting, but this restriction does not apply when using a supplied air hood. The position also includes performing grit blasting and wearing company-furnished protective clothing and an air helmet during blasting operations. The employee will perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Requirements

Ability to apply undercoat and finish coat using sprayed and brushed coatings.
Ability to mix and thin paints to proper consistency and viscosity.
Ability to adjust and maintain equipment for finish requirements.
Ability to perform grinding, body filling, sanding, and masking.
Ability to schedule workflow for productivity and efficiency.
Ability to maintain equipment and work area in a safe, organized, and clean condition.
Ability to observe company safety rules and use PPE.
Ability to perform grit blasting.

Ability to operate cranes to lift/move items weighing over 50 pounds.

Observes company safety rules and uses required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Performs grit blasting and wears company-furnished protective clothing and air helmet while blasting.
Maintains inventories of paint.
Performs other work as directed by the supervisor.
