About The Position

This role is responsible for assisting in the painting process, ensuring adherence to work order requirements, and maintaining quality standards. The Paint Assistant will perform various preparation activities, collaborate with different departments, and contribute to process improvement and safety compliance. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and a commitment to meeting production and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand work order requirements.
  • Capability to perform all paint preparation activities.
  • Proficiency in sanding, cleaning, and racking parts using proper techniques and sanding grits.
  • Willingness to work overtime, when required, including weekends.
  • Ability to wear and comply with all PPE requirements, including safety glasses, protective gloves, boots, chemical resistant suits, and respirators.

Nice To Haves

  • Trained in the Ultra C-Lean/6s process.
  • Experience generating ORIZON Reports.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand work order requirements.
  • Identify parts using printed and/or electronic pictures on the router.
  • Perform all paint preparation activities, including staging parts for Prime and Topcoat.
  • Sand, clean, and rack parts using proper techniques and sanding grits.
  • Report any identified defects to leadership for further instructions.
  • Work with the Paint Systems Manager/supervisor, quality engineer, and the chemical engineer/lab to develop and implement new processes.
  • Work directly with Management, Production Support, and Quality department personnel.
  • Ensure department personnel are following the Ultra C-Lean/6s process.
  • Participate in NADCAP and 3rd Party audits, as necessary.
  • Participate in Root Cause and Corrective Actions.
  • Coordinate communications between department personnel, quality personnel, and customer service representatives to ensure production and customer purchase order requirements are met.
  • Identify equipment, training, and service needs and forward them to the department Manager/Supervisor.
  • Generate ORIZON Reports to coordinate workflow.
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and assist with the enforcement of compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Manage customer-supplied product with care.
  • Maintain and reinforce ORIZON’s quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Manage time appropriately to meet production, quality, and delivery schedules.
  • Interact professionally with co-workers and vendors, understand internal customers, and strive to maintain good relations with others.
  • Respond quickly to inquiries and follow up as needed.
  • Embrace change to ensure overall success of the company.
  • Wear any/all PPE including Safety Glasses, protective gloves, boots, as well as chemical resistant suits and respirators as required.
