About The Position

This role involves applying paint and ensuring the quality of the application. The operator must be proficient with various products within a paint range and be capable of training teams. Key responsibilities include preparing the workstation, adjusting equipment according to data sheets, installing filters, checking nozzles, and ensuring adequate material stock. The operator will apply paint and varnish following procedures and standards, measuring and adjusting gun flow for even spray, and controlling paint thickness for a smooth finish. They will also analyze causes of issues and determine appropriate solutions. Quality assurance involves self-inspection, identifying and correcting application faults, checking gloss, and testing paint adhesion. Maintenance tasks include disassembling and reassembling the gun, servicing it, replacing filters, and maintaining a tidy spray booth and workstation. The role also requires contributing to the smooth running of the zone by making suggestions, developing versatility, participating in working groups, complying with company rules and 5S, and assisting colleagues. Information transfer to the production team includes attending meetings, reporting faults, and communicating instructions during shift handover. Finally, the operator will provide technical tutoring in paint application, conduct training sessions, help analyze rejects, propose solutions, and support new paints and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare his/her workstation
  • Adjust the gun in accordance with the data sheet
  • Install the filter in the gun
  • Check the gun nozzle
  • Make sure his/her workstation is stocked with materials required, if necessary
  • Apply the paint and varnish in accordance with procedures and standards (production, quality, flows, health & safety, etc.)
  • Measure and adjust the flow of the gun to ensure even spray
  • Respect the application distance and control the thickness of the paint applied to ensure a smooth, even coat
  • Analyse causes and decide on methods and means most suited to his/her missions
  • Perform the self-inspection
  • Identify faults associated with the application and correct them accordingly
  • Check the gloss
  • Test the adhesion of the paint to the part
  • Update the log cards or the IT system
  • Disassemble and reassemble the gun
  • Service the gun
  • Replace the filter
  • Make sure that the spray booth is kept tidy
  • Clean his/her workstation and some equipment
  • Make suggestions and help to implement them
  • Develop his/her versatility and multi skills
  • Take part in working groups and progress meetings
