About The Position

Compass Palliative Care seeks Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants with experience and interest in palliative and pain management. The practice provides palliative and pain management appointments for California-based patients, including services in assisted living facilities (ALF) and skilled nursing facilities (SNF) in the Tehachapi area. Practitioners are assigned a specific patient load and are responsible for that patient load. The program is run by experienced, board-certified physicians who provide staff training and in-service education and support staff advancement and positive patient outcomes. The role offers flexible days and hours and is performed on the road.

Requirements

• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in California.
• Must have an active DEA license.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients in an ALF/SNF environment.
• Provide palliative and pain management to best treat each patient.
• Perform pain management procedures as needed.
• Define and document patient diagnoses.
• Prescribe and refill medications.
• Provide patient and family education and management.
• Document findings and treatment course in patient charts, including follow-up notes.
• Participate in departmental activities to improve training methods and achieve company goals.
