About The Position

Under direct supervision, the Page shelves and organizes library materials, maintains shelves and performs special projects. Pages also respond to general questions from patrons. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Customer Service · Provides excellent customer service to all library patrons · Maintains confidentiality of patron information · Directs patrons to library areas or staff as appropriate · Retrieves library materials for patrons Shelf Maintenance · Efficiently shelves library materials in the proper location · Shifts library materials, as assigned · Maintains orderliness of displays and shelves Teamwork · Maintains a collaborative working environment · Provides support to department projects, as needed · Attends meetings and serves on staff committees, as requested · Supports library-wide initiatives, such as SummerREAD Miscellaneous · Records statistics for library transactions, as required · Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through professional development · Represents the library at community events, as assigned · Performs additional duties and assignments, as required

Requirements

  • Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Work permit required for students.
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Entry level.
  • Effective verbal and interpersonal skills to respond to coworkers, supervisor, and patrons.
  • Organization, prioritizing and coordinating multiple tasks.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Frequent walking, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and pushing carts.
  • Moving/lifting up to 30 pounds, pushing up to 70 pounds.
