About The Position

Mater Health Hub Springfield is seeking an experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our Allied Health team in a 12-month maximum term part-time position, working 15 hours per week. As a Paediatric Occupational Therapist, you will provide high-quality, evidence-based assessment and intervention services to infants, children and adolescents in an outpatient setting. Working collaboratively with families, carers and multidisciplinary teams, you will support children to achieve meaningful developmental, functional and participation-based outcomes across home, school and community environments. This role offers the opportunity to work with children presenting with a broad range of developmental, sensory processing, physical, cognitive and psychosocial needs. You will utilise your clinical expertise to deliver individualised therapy programs, provide parent and caregiver education, and contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of paediatric occupational therapy services within Mater Health Hub Springfield.

Requirements

  • A degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Current registration with AHPRA and eligibility to obtain a Medicare Provider Number.
  • Advanced clinical skills and experience in the delivery of paediatric occupational therapy services within an outpatient setting.
  • Strong knowledge of paediatric assessment and intervention, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
  • The ability to apply sound clinical judgement and manage a varied caseload of children with developmental, sensory processing and functional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, carers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive approach to quality improvement and service development, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for children and families.
  • A positive, flexible and solutions-focused mindset, with the resilience to adapt in a dynamic clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and evidence-based interventions for infants, children and adolescents with a range of developmental and functional needs.
  • Apply advanced clinical reasoning and judgement to manage complex paediatric presentations and develop tailored therapy plans.
  • Provide individual and group-based interventions that support children's participation, independence and achievement of functional goals.
  • Partner with families, carers, schools and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centred care.
  • Develop and utilise educational resources and strategies to support children and their families throughout their therapy journey.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and support the ongoing development of clinical practices, procedures and service delivery models.
  • Participate actively within multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and families.
  • Provide supervision, support and guidance to students, allied health assistants and less experienced clinicians as required.
  • Maintain contemporary clinical knowledge through continuing professional development and the integration of evidence-based practice into clinical care.
