Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Read, write legibly, understand and speak English
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word)
  • Must have a USTA Officials license.
  • Must be licensed with Ohio Racing Commission
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills
  • Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy
  • Must be able to respond to visual and oral cues
  • Able to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment
  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 50 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces

Responsibilities

  • Must be knowledgeable on rules and regulations of The Ohio Racing Commission
  • Verifies horses are in proper paddock stalls according to race number and post position
  • Ensures proper flow of horses entering and exiting paddock for safety of participants
  • Makes announcements of pertinent information regarding races
  • Constant communication with judges on scratches, changes and up to date information on participants in races
  • Ensures horses are lined up and ready to properly to enter track for post parade according to scheduled post times
  • Coordinates other officials working in Paddock
  • Administer the breathalyzer test on live racing days.
  • Maintain in good condition extra equipment in the paddock for use in an emergency situation.
  • Must be available to work for any training, schooling, racing or qualifying hours
