About The Position

Assists in the provision of nursing care to patients in a fast-paced Total Joint Replacement Ambulatory Surgical Center. Assumes total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician's orders and centers policies. The center operates Monday through Friday and shifts start at 0530 or 0730, with the closing shift staying until the last patient is discharged (on average 4pm, however can be longer depending on patient acuity). The center has two operating rooms and serves 7-8 patients per day, usually with only one surgeon. Seven preop/pacu bays are assigned to a patient for use in both phases of care, and the nursing staff adjust their assignments accordingly. The majority of patients receive spinal anesthesia in preop and during recovery require post-op ambulation of 100 feet. Discharge teaching requires attention to detail as these are all outpatients.

Requirements

Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing
Current Pennsylvania RN License
CPR required
ACLS required
Minimum one year in PACU, ED, or critical care experience

Nice To Haves

Orthopaedic experience preferred
