This position utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients. The role involves administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act. Key responsibilities include performing assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation of care, as well as documenting according to standards of care. The nurse will develop, initiate, and execute a patient plan of care according to individualized needs, including patient and family instruction. Participation in department or unit performance improvement activities, shared governance, and utilizing clinical expertise to guide other units are also expected. The role requires critical thinking regarding patient safety and experience, with appropriate escalation to the chain of command. Engagement in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities, decisions, and peer review is encouraged. The position involves offering ideas and solutions to practice issues, using innovative methods to develop and implement plans of care, and providing innovative ways to educate patient-families. Initiating interdisciplinary collaboration to meet patient/family educational needs and actively participating in mentoring and precepting new partners are key aspects of the role. The position also involves positively influencing professional and organizational environments and shared governance, engaging in personal development, and supporting system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines. Active participation in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activity is required.
