About The Position

At Saint Mary's Hospital, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU delivers high-acuity post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Operating Room. This role involves providing high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries. The RN will manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness. Collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams is essential to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards. This position is Per Diem with a Rotating Shift.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Active RN license in the state of Connecticut.
  • One or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery.
  • Ability to function independently in the Main PACU.
  • Resumes must demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.

Nice To Haves

  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
  • Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines.
