About The Position

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role involves providing high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries. The RN will manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness. Collaboration with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams is essential to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
  • Valid RN license in Connecticut.
  • One or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery.
  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
  • Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with Emergency Room or ICU nurses with 2+ years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.
