About The Position

Position Purpose At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center , the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides post-operative care for patients recovering from surgical procedures performed in the Ambulatory Operating Room and Main Operating Room. What You Will Do Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from outpatient surgical procedures. Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and readiness for discharge or transfer. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
  • Valid RN license in Connecticut
  • BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
  • ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
  • Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery
  • ICU experience with 2+ years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.
