PACU Registered Nurse - Ambulatory
About The Position
Position Purpose At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center , the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Ambulatory Surgery Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) provides post-operative care for patients recovering from surgical procedures performed in the Ambulatory Operating Room and Main Operating Room. What You Will Do Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from outpatient surgical procedures. Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and readiness for discharge or transfer. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate’s degree in Nursing is required.
- Valid RN license in Connecticut
- BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)
- ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)
- Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines
Nice To Haves
- One or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery
- ICU experience with 2+ years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.
