About The Position

Kern Medical is seeking a PACS Administrator Assistant for their Radiology Department. This is a Per Diem position, meaning employees supplement department staffing needs with no guarantee of minimum hours. The role requires availability to work four (4) shifts per six (6) week scheduling period. The PACS Administrator Assistant provides specialized support activities requiring knowledge and experience in various imaging management computer programs within the Radiology and Imaging Department. This role supports the PACS Administrator and other technologists in different modalities. The estimated pay for this position is $19.2821 to $25.8072 per hour, with potential for additional compensation through differentials, incentives, and bonuses.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent
  • Three years of clerical, general computer and office experience directly related to the area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Proficiency in the use of word processing software, such as Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods; data compilation methods; inventory maintenance principles; customer service principles; standard office procedures, methods, and equipment; basic filing and recordkeeping principles; basic mathematical concepts; English language, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Skill in compiling and managing data; preparing a variety of reports; prioritizing work; performing multiple tasks simultaneously; entering information into a database; maintaining various records and files; preparing presentations; using computers and specialized imaging related software applications; performing mathematical calculations; processing forms using established guidelines; providing customer service; filing; keyboarding; using standard office equipment; and, communicating both orally and in writing sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the function and workflow of the PACs system, including worklists for QA issues.
  • Export and send images electronically or on cd/dvd’s for patients throughout the day.
  • Import cd’s and digital images/film as requested throughout the day.
  • Manage Radiology records to include digital, paper, and film.
  • Send digital images using various platforms to include faxes and electronic reports to outside facilities ensuring outside provider reports are sent in a timely manner.
  • Print daily Mammography schedules, prepare documentation needed for the appointments, including requesting or importing and scanning in priors.
  • Scan mammography patients’ letters and BIRADs into PACS throughout the day.
  • Assist in providing images for PowerPoint presentations for radiology conferences.
  • Assist radiologists with calls, paging, faxing, and making copies.
  • Answer incoming phone calls throughout the day.
  • Call in the on-call team as needed during the weekends.
  • Provide imaging records management support for Health Department’s requests.
  • Provide imaging records management support for legal cases.
  • Provide computer systems training and assistance to the radiologists (PACS, Powerscribe, Electronic Medical Record).
  • Assist the technologists with any PACS related issues as needed (which include merging of exams and accession numbers during and following downtime).
  • Perform other duties of similar nature or level as required.
