About The Position

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Packaging Line Operator ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Packaging Line Operator will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum’s Customer 1st Philosophy. The general purpose of the Packaging Line Operator is to manage various types of packaging machinery throughout the production process.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

Loading raw materials into machines
Adjusting machine settings
Performing quality control checks
Maintaining a clean, safe work environment
Operating packaging machinery according to standard procedures.
Inspecting and testing product packaging for quality.
Troubleshoot mechanical issues to reduce downtime, assisting maintenance to keep the machine performing adequately
Recording packaging data and maintaining accurate production records customer specifications
Utilize technology to review job requirements, report production, and to produce labels or reports.
Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.
Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments
