About The Position

This position is responsible for various tasks on the coating line, including equipment setup, product wrapping, boxing, labeling, and quality inspection. The role requires adherence to safety, GMP, SOP, and BRC standards, as well as maintaining good housekeeping. The individual will also be responsible for reporting any issues and performing required exercises. Flexibility in duties and willingness to assist as needed are important.

Requirements

  • Ability to grasp and use sharp tools (knife).
  • Literacy in reading.
  • Ability to count.
  • Ability to differentiate numbers.
  • Basic knowledge of boxing equipment.
  • Ability to work with mold, pepper, allergens, cleaning chemicals, and other spices.
  • Maintains exceptional GMP’s and food safety procedures, follows company/BRC standards.
  • Good interpersonal skills and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a hot/cold environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment, maintaining a commitment to results.
  • Drive continuous improvement in both production process and occupational safety.
  • Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a day regardless of the department assignment and overtime when needed, including weekends and holidays.
  • Line Coordinator backup: Ability to communicate in English (basic level).

Nice To Haves

  • Food industry or manufacturing experience desired.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Basic English reading, writing, and comprehension skills.

Responsibilities

  • Safely peel and remove casing from product using a sharp tool (knife).
  • Scrape mold coverings and substances from product using a sharp tool (knife).
  • Perform daily pre-operation set up/changeover of all equipment in the Coating line, Multi Vac, VC-999, Flo-Wrap, hand wrap area, Chub Cutter, and CVP machine.
  • Wrap salami at a pace of 4-5 pieces per minute.
  • Box salami, weigh, strap, and apply weight tags.
  • Position roll of labels on machine and insert into feeder/label machine.
  • Attach identification labels to finished product.
  • Inspect meat packets to ensure specifications and quality for accurate labeling, seal integrity, and code date clarity.
  • Remove defective packets.
  • Monitor line for pile-ups and jams.
  • Hand count each final product before placing in box for packaging.
  • Position and fill feeder with boxes and replenish.
  • Erect or form boxes of various sizes.
  • Hand tape the bottom of erected boxes.
  • Palletize boxed salami up to 35 lbs.
  • Follow all GMP’s, SOP’s, and BRC standards.
  • Ensure and maintain good housekeeping throughout the area.
  • Report any employee issues in the department to your line coordinator/supervisor.
  • Report anything unusual, including accidents, breakage, or malfunction of machinery and equipment to your line coordinator/supervisor.
  • Perform required stretches and exercises.
  • Wear all appropriate PPE. Work safely, and use equipment only when trained.
  • May be assigned or required to perform other duties, responsibilities, and functions assigned by the production line coordinator and/or supervisor and/or production management.
