About The Position

The Packing Utility Worker ensures the quality of aluminum by performing measurement checks and visual inspections. They work closely with a partner, read packaging specifications for proper bundling, and retrieve racks of aluminum from the holding area. Responsibilities include pushing racks to the workstation, cutting wood for bundles with a miter saw, and using basic hand tools like retractable knives and deburring tools. The role involves packing aluminum with appropriate materials per customer specifications and documenting production information on paper and a computer. This position requires working in a factory/manufacturing environment with fluctuating temperatures and high noise levels.

Requirements

  • Must comply with company policies including but not limited to all safety policies
  • Must follow all Packing procedures and guidelines
  • Must know how to read a tape measure or be willing to learn for quality checks
  • Must be 18 years of age to work in the plant
  • Must have ability to read and understand basic instructions (Spanish instructions are provided as needed)
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Must be willing to participate in all required job and or employment related trainings. This includes but is not limited to all safety and technical or role or tool specific trainings.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn, climb and push/pull frequently
  • Ability to work above ground level (off the ground) occasionally with proper safety equipment
  • Must be always aware of movement and/or noises around them
  • Must move 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally
  • Ability to remain stationary and/or traverse the factory as needed per essential duties of the position
  • Effective communicator verbally and in writing
  • Requires individuals to read and follow written procedures. (English/Spanish instructions will be made available as needed)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with computers is a plus, we will train on the job

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the quality of aluminum is inspected by performing measurement checks and visual inspections
  • Work one on one with a partner for the whole shift, unless otherwise told by the Supervisor
  • Read packaging specs to ensure proper bundling
  • Retrieve racks of aluminum from holding area
  • Push racks of aluminum to workstation
  • Cut wood for bundles with a miter saw as needed
  • Use basic hand tools throughout shift (Retractable knife, deburr, etc.)
  • Pack the aluminum with the appropriate material per customer specifications
  • Move metal and/or materials manually as required
  • Document the appropriate production information on paper and a computer
