About The Position

This position involves inspecting and packing bottles at a standard rate on assigned lines. The role also includes general housekeeping, assisting with scrap removal and grinding, and pulling plastic. Depending on the needs of the operation, the packer may be required to operate a punch, load a conveyor or flamer, and pack either blank or decorated bottles. Additionally, they may be responsible for taping and unitizing cartons.

Requirements

Ability to inspect bottles for quality defects.
Ability to pack bottles at a standard rate.
Ability to operate a punch.
Ability to load conveyors and flamers.
Ability to practice housekeeping, including mopping.
Ability to remove scrap from around the line.
Ability to grind and pull plastic.
Ability to make and unitize cartons.
Ability to initial and date box labels.
Ability to make out unit tickets.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment
Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers
Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/ or the coordinator.
Pack at standard rate.
Operate a punch.
Load conveyors and flamers.
Practice housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around machine including mopping if necessary.
Remove scrap from around the line.
Grind and pull plastic as needed.
Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
Initial and date box labels.
Make out unit tickets.
Do any other work as assigned by the Supervisor.
