About The Position

This position involves learning, performing, and rotating between the positions of packer, scaler, styler, and grader to maintain line speeds on various products at the designated rate. The role requires working on a moving conveyor belt using both hands, spreading or styling product by hand, performing packing and weighing tasks, pulling bones from product, and inspecting and grading product to remove items that do not meet standards. The position also emphasizes teamwork, participation in team meetings, and fostering cohesiveness within the team. Team members are expected to understand and support Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, and LEAN principles, and to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. This role is essential in supporting business objectives and may involve duties beyond those explicitly listed.

Requirements

Must be able to make good decisions.
Must be able to communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
Must be able to move, push or pull up to 55 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, stand and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for entire shift.
Must be able to perform repetitive motion.
May include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant.
Must wear Std waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, slip resistant footwear.

Preference for poultry or food processing organization experience.

Responsibilities

Learn, perform, and rotate between the positions of packer, scaler, styler, and grader.
Maintain line speeds on any given product at the designated rate for that product.
Work on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
Spread or style product by hand on the belt.
Perform multiple types of packing and weighing.
Pull bones from product.
Inspect, grade, and remove product that does not meet standards.
Participate as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness.
Attend appropriate team meetings.
Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness and work with the team leader to resolve issues.
Be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Communicate concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
