About The Position

Custom Culinary, a subsidiary of Griffith Foods, is hiring a Packer to join our Production Team. The Packer is responsible for the safe operation of the set-up, operation, adjustment, and clean-up of packaging equipment to ensure product is packed, labeled & palletized in accordance with company quality, safety, and regulatory standards Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Griffith Production System (GPS).

Requirements

  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds throughout the shift and operate an electric pallet jack.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, including the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; and the ability to communicate with individuals and small groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Working knowledge or the ability to gain knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning.
  • Willingness & ability to work overtime, as needed, throughout the week, up to and including Saturday work.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods during the shift.
  • Comfortable working with and around allergens and cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Avon, OH location
  • Candidates must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Work visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Previous manufacturing or packaging experience
  • Experience working in a food production environment

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret production schedules to pack finished goods accurately, ensuring correct cartons and labels are used
  • Assemble cartons, apply labels, and pack the correct number of products into each carton
  • Set up, operate, and maintain packaging equipment such as tapers and code daters
  • Stack cartons on pallets according to required configurations
  • Accurately record production and yield data
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the production equipment and tools, including the work area.
  • Disposal of trash and garbage containers.
  • Support audit requirements and maintain a clean, safe work environment
