Requirements

  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be willing and able to pack and inspect up to 18 Portion packages, 52 steaks, 15 Whole hams or 18 by-product packages per minute.
  • Must be able to operate auto taper.
  • Qualified LTT.
  • Able to place barcode on boxes and pass finished cases through a tape machine.
  • Able to read schedule and follow product changes to ensure the correct amount of product is in each box.
  • Capable of working at a moving loading station.
  • Must be able to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
  • Must be able to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Must be able to work with a knife (if trained).
  • Must be able to work in cold areas (approximately 20-40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
  • Must be able to work in an environment that is wet and humid.
  • Must be able to work while wearing a hard hat, hearing/eye protection, and steel-toed safety shoes.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment using personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
  • Must be able to work around strong smells/odors.
  • Must be able to climb/move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways and platforms.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively over the course of an entire shift.
  • Must be able to walk long distances.
  • This work is physically demanding and can require the use of some or all body parts and muscle groups.
  • Some positions may require repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 lbs, single lifting of heavy objects which can weigh up to 60 lbs or lifting of objects using mechanical assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with hand tools, knives, machinery and other equipment to process meat products for the consumer.
  • Pack and inspect up to 18 Portion packages, 52 steaks, 15 Whole hams or 18 by-product packages per minute.
  • Operate auto taper.
  • Place barcode on boxes and pass finished cases through a tape machine.
  • Identify product non-conformances and remove from production accordingly.
  • Read schedule and follow product changes to ensure the correct amount of product is in each box.
  • Work at a moving loading station.
  • Monitor machine operation and settings, make appropriate adjustments to ensure standards set by management are adhered to and to minimize/eliminate waste; contact supervisor to resolve difficulties beyond what incumbent is trained/authorized to handle.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching hands, flexing, and extending arms.
  • Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
  • Work with a knife (if trained).
  • Work with sanitation/cleaning chemicals.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
