About The Position

The Packer packs aluminum extrusions and secures bundles of finished material according to customer and company requirements, preparing them for shipment. The role supports Iowa Aluminum’s aluminum extrusion operations by maintaining quality, safety, and housekeeping standards in the packing and shipping areas. The Packer monitors equipment performance and reports issues to the supervisor, works collaboratively with shift leads, supervisors, managers, and other shifts, and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to follow detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to initiate tasks independently.
• Able to lift, push, and pull materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
• Able to bend, lift, and reach frequently.
• Consistent and reliable attendance.
• Knowledge of quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Pack aluminum extrusions according to customer and company requirements.
• Secure bundles of finished material and prepare them for shipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and report issues to the supervisor.
• Maintain safety and proper housekeeping in the packing and shipping areas.
• Ensure compliance with quality-related policies, procedures, and system requirements.
• Follow safety protocols, wear required personal protective equipment, and participate in safety and job training as required.
• Collaborate with shift leads, supervisors, and managers to support company goals.
• Communicate with other shifts about safety, quality, equipment, and productivity issues from the shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
