About The Position

This position prepares and packages furniture products that are ready for transport and delivery. The role involves case fitting, which includes assembling case parts, adjusting drawers and doors to fit properly, and ensuring smooth operation. It also includes packing, where the employee will prepare cartons, apply interior packing materials, and secure the packaged product. The position requires attention to detail for quality control and adherence to safety rules.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous packing experience a plus
Must be able to walk, stand, climb, stoop, twist, push, pull and bend over the course of 8 hours.
Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, bend, stoop, kneel, walk, stand, and climb on a daily basis
Must be able to lift/move at least 100 pounds
Must be able to pull and push
Must be able to reach overhead
Must be able to work in a noisy environment

Responsibilities

Receives all case parts from machining and assembles all end panels, tops, and bottoms to make the outside frame of the case.
Adjusts drawers to case as necessary by planning or otherwise cutting down bottom and/or sides of drawer to fit opening in case.
Places plastic drawer tilt in temporary location on back of drawer.
Adjusts or replaces drawer stop blocks as necessary.
Ensures that drawer slides smoothly and easily in case.
Hangs right hand door or cases and adjusts two doors together, including any planning or other cutting down to fit doors to case, assembling striker plate for magnetic catch to door, placing shims behind hinges as necessary.
Assembles lid supports to doors where required, ensuring that door opens and closes easily and properly.
Gets cartons and interior packing materials from storage area as necessary.
Places corner pads and/or other interior packing parts on wrapped case as directed.
Puts correct carton over case and tapes, staples, or ties carton in position as required.
Closes top flaps, tapes and/or staples.
Gets pre-packed glass shelves from glass assembly area and packs with case when necessary.
Removes production ticket from wrapping, detaches 1/3 of ticket and attaches remainder to outside carton.
Keeps cardboard in carton machine.
Observes plant safety rules.
Keeps work area clean and is quality conscious in performing duties.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.
