Work Schedule: Day Shift: Monday – Friday; 6:30 am – 3:00 pm (40hrs per week) Compensation At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $25.50. This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings. Join Our Team as a Packer (External Logistics)! Are you passionate about logistics? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our metal-enclosed switchgear packaging function. As a Packer (External Logistics) you will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in carpentry, woodworking, packaging, or related experience that requires the use of power tools.
  • 1-2 years of driving a forklift with a safe driving record.
  • Good carpentry skills with a general understanding of how to construct custom wooden supports, such as pallets and crates.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities and specifications consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned handling requests.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Good math skills with the ability to calculate quantities and weights.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department.
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments such as scales and tape measures.
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.

Responsibilities

  • Construct custom packing skids, crates, and boxes designed to package S&C products for external delivery by using power saws, drills, nail guns, and other hand tools.
  • Review crate drawings and measure pieces to ensure accuracy in crate construction, and provide instructions to other team members on how to pack custom crates/boxes.
  • Use forklifts, tuggers, and overhead cranes to transport completed products to the designated area for packaging, placing the product on skids, crate bases, or directly ontothe members trucks once packed.
  • Review sales orders to ensure the correct products and parts are packaged within the packing crate/box, which may include sub-packages of smaller parts. Complete associated job folders, including the packing form and any associated packing checklists.
  • Confirm that finished products and associated components have all passed final inspections prior to packaging.
  • Verify that international shipments comply with ISPM-15 material requirements, confirming that the correct type of lumber is used, stamped appropriately, and associated with the correct purchase order.
  • Use a plastic wrapping machine and heat guns to apply protective plastic to some products prior to shipping.
  • Mentors basic-level team members in the completion of their work to help their professional growth. Checks the work of other packers to ensure the safety and security of packaging.
  • Use internal software applications to identify packing requests and shipments, responding to requests in a timely manner and correctly documenting completed jobs.
  • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
