About The Position

The Packaging Technician is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining packaging and production equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality output. This role supports daily manufacturing operations by setting up machines, performing routine adjustments, and conducting quality checks to meet production, food safety, and regulatory standards. The operator collaborates with production, maintenance, and quality teams to minimize downtime, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a clean, organized work environment while consistently meeting safety, quality, and productivity expectations. This role is a first shift role, with a schedule of Monday-Friday from 7:30 am - 4 pm. Note that this role requires at least one year of machine operator experience.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of production experience as a machine technician or machine operator.
  • Able condition to work 8 hour shifts while standing, lifting, bending, and reaching.
  • Must be able to work on your feet over 9 straight hours.
  • Able to perform physical tasks that are repetitive, and lift up to 30 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to lift 80 pounds 20% of the shift.
  • Must be able to endure constant leaning and bending during shift.
  • Must be able to handle/move up to 1400 pound bins on casters.

Responsibilities

  • Process coffee as the production schedule demands.
  • Ensure that the assigned workstation operates within the workplace safety and food safety standards.
  • Ensure product quality by completing all Quality Control Point monitoring tasks.
  • Complete and submit all quality assurance monitoring tasks for the assigned operating workstation.
  • Complete and submit all production records required for the assigned operating workstation.
  • Work cooperatively to ensure workplace safety and product quality while meeting production goals.
  • Make every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising team safety or product quality.
  • Communicate issues pertinent to production performance, quality, or workplace safety directly to the Roastery Team Lead, Production Supervisor, or Production Manager.
  • Communicate issues concerning equipment faults or failures directly to the Engineering Department for immediate repair or future preventive maintenance.
  • Assign, train, and monitor daily Production Team Member performance and task completion for the assigned workstation.
  • Assign, train, and monitor daily Temporary Worker performance and task completion for the assigned workstation.
  • Maintain established standards of cleanliness and sanitation for the assigned workstation and the facility.
  • Participate in all workstation development opportunities to increase technical abilities and strengthen craft-level skills.
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of all Food Safety and related programs, such as but not limited to GMP's, SSOPs, and Adverse Health Policy.
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of all Workplace Safety policies and Standard Work Procedures.
  • Participate in the training of new Team Members to facilitate their success.
  • Demonstrate full knowledge to operate one or two Packaging Lines, Roasting machines or Grinding machine.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed including Saturdays.
