Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Min. 6 months of Packaging Operator experience preferred.
  • Some lead experience preferred.
  • Good mechanical skills.
  • Capable of lifting 55 pounds.
  • Capable of standing for a minimum of 12 hours.
  • Able to work with multiple types of equipment simultaneously.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 30 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must act in a safe and environmentally responsible manner at all times by adhering to all ALPLA policies and procedures and Safety Standards (OSHA).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Shift Supervisor the packaging needs on production equipment.
  • Ensures all lines are adequately supplied with materials needed (e.g., Foil, Cartons, Trays).
  • Assists Packaging Operators as needed to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Sets up and operates multiple types of packaging equipment, including carton erectors, partition inserters, product inserters, top closers, and palletization equipment.
  • Ensures labels correctly match the product in facilities where manual labeling is required.
  • Manages and assigns break schedules for packers.
  • Supports troubleshooting and training initiatives for Packers.
  • Audits packer standard work and completion.
  • Audits packer quality checks and completion.
  • Completes staffing reports for packer staff.
  • Completes package paperwork.
  • Updates and completes packer training documentation.
