About The Position

Your job as a Packaging Supervisor for Opella Consumer Healthcare involves supervising the Packaging Department Operations to ensure effective daily line operations, to achieve production standards for product quality and quantity.

Requirements

You must have a bachelor's degree in engineering, Operations Management or related field
At least two years (2) of supervisory experience.
(A two-year technical degree with five+ years of supervisory experience in Plant Operations Management where applicable skills were employed, comparable to those required by Chattem will be considered.
Exposure to various environmental variances within a manufacturing setting.
You should be proficient in operating various packaging machinery and tools.
You are required to comply with dress code regulations, be willing to undergo necessary training, and work in conditions with exposure to product, dust, grease, and packing machinery hazards.
You need to complete the required pre-employment testing.

Nice To Haves

Additional qualifications such as Lean Six Sigma Certification, previous pharmaceutical experience, and familiarity with Production Automation Systems like SAP are desirable.

Responsibilities

Recommends approval of new personnel and provides personnel training as directed by department manager.
Directs assigned personnel (50 to 100 people which may include material handlers, team leaders, line operators and machine operators) in daily operations.
Manage day-to-day labor and supply requirements.
Identify areas for continuous improvement in productivity, cGMP compliance and employee safety.
Conduct cGMP and safety training on a daily basis for both new and existing employees and contract employees.
Interviews candidates for open positions and plays a key role in making selections.
Must have thorough understanding of line operations and equipment to properly train personnel as directed by Plant Manager.
Supervises hourly personnel and provides assistance in meeting packaging core team objectives.
Coordinates packaging line changeovers with mechanic supervisor; ensures materials availability for line operations as determined by department schedules.
Ensures packaging equipment and buildings are properly cleaned and maintained in compliance with department operating standards.
Coordinates daily scheduling with supporting departments to ensure product availability when needed by department schedule.
Monitors and maintains personnel LMS training proficiency records.
Determines rotation of personnel and training cycles to ensure personnel competence in line operations.
Recommends personnel disposition, promotions, transfer, disciplinary action, and rate changes to Plant Manager.
Prepares and conducts 1-, 3-, and 6-month reviews with new hires.
Prepares and conducts annual performance evaluations with personnel reporting directly to them, this will include a performance improvement plan if necessary.
Ability to draft documents required for operation of the business to include proper grammar, accurate math calculations and clear language that describes and/or directs action.
Ability to establish and maintain positive employee labor relations utilizing clear communication to team members and thorough problem-solving techniques.
