About The Position

The Packaging Supervisor is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent execution of daily packaging operations, including canning, bottling, and kegging. This role leads Packaging Specialists on shift, ensures production schedules are met, supports continuous improvement efforts, and builds strong team cohesion and accountability.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising or leading production teams.
  • Hands-on experience with packaging equipment (e.g., fillers, seamers, case packers, palletizing).
  • Working knowledge of safety, quality, and injury prevention practices.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
  • Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Office tools, and production systems; ERP experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, delegate, and execute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand and move for 10–12 hours per shift.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Required use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, bump caps and reinforced toe footwear.

  • Experience in beverage, food, or consumer packaged goods preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily packaging operations to ensure safe, efficient, and predictable execution of the production plan.
  • Actively work on the production floor, supporting line operations, troubleshooting issues, and removing barriers to performance.
  • Ensure packaging equipment is operated at target speeds and that CIP and sanitation activities are completed accurately and on time.
  • Proactively set the next shift up for success through clear communication, organization and cleaning, and documentation.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Packaging Specialists through hands-on training, feedback, and positive accountability.
  • Build a strong team culture grounded in safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous learning.
  • Support onboarding, skill progression, cross-training, and certification across packaging operations.
  • Maintain scheduling and monitor attendance, timekeeping, and shift coverage; review and approve time records as required.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to OSHA, injury prevention protocols, GMPs, HACCP, food safety, and workplace safety policies.
  • Ensure SOPs are current, understood, and consistently followed.
  • Maintain accurate QA documentation, production logs, and shift reports.
  • Partner with the Packaging Manager and cross-functional teams (Planning, Maintenance, Brewing, Quality, HR) to improve processes, reduce waste, and improve plan attainment.
  • Use data and KPIs (safety, quality, productivity, downtime, yield) to identify trends and drive improvement.
  • Communicate clearly and proactively to ensure smooth workflow, material availability, and predictable execution.
  • Support new product launches, process changes, and equipment improvements as needed.
  • Accurately complete shift reports, production metrics, inventory movements, and ERP transactions.
  • Use computers and systems (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, ERP) to record, track, and communicate operational information.
