About The Position

Reporting directly to the Kitchen Manager, the Packaging Supervisor oversees daily packaging operations for prepared and pre-packaged food items, ensuring efficiency, quality, food safety compliance, and accurate inventory control. This role leads the packaging team, coordinates workflow with the production kitchen, and ensures that all finished products meet company standards for presentation, labeling, freshness, and safety.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of food packaging, food safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Leadership and team supervision experience in a kitchen or food production environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple workflows simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail, especially regarding labeling and quality control.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of weights and measures.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift up to 30–40 pounds regularly.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management and stock rotation practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in food production or packaging, including supervisory experience preferred.
  • Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) preferred or required within a specified timeframe.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate packaging team members.
  • Direct daily packaging activities, including portioning, sealing, labeling, and staging of prepared foods.
  • Ensure all packaging equipment (sealers, label printers, scales) is operated safely and correctly.
  • Verify accuracy of product labels, including ingredients, dates, allergens, and pricing.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of packaged items and coordinate with the production kitchen to meet demand.
  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards (temperatures, rotation, cleanliness).
  • Monitor product quality, consistency, and presentation prior to placement in walk-ins and sales areas (“the wall”).
  • Maintain proper stock rotation (FIFO) and minimize waste.
  • Troubleshoot workflow issues and make process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Assist with ordering and tracking of packaging supplies.
  • Complete required documentation and reports related to production, inventory, and safety.
