About The Position

The primary objective of this role is to design and prepare packaging on the spot that conveys a positive impression to the end customer, using options provided in manufacturing instructions. The Packaging Specialist will ship outbound product in an accurate, efficient, and economical manner, complying with customer preferences, internal, federal, and international shipping guidelines.

Requirements

Ability to prepare product for packaging by checking customer order and model numbers against packing list.
Ability to verify product against travelers and follow shipping checklists.
Ability to weigh, form packages, perform product inlay, label, and strap.
Ability to pull packing slips and schedule small parcels in clipper ship.
Ability to package product to specification using established methods.
Ability to attach address labels and carrier information stickers.
Ability to work with Logistics Specialists to ensure proper paperwork is generated.
Capability to run clipper ship for domestic shipments independently.
Capability to run clipper ship for international shipments with assistance.
Ability to schedule pack completion based on production delayed orders and ready to ship reports.
Ability to maintain a strict packaging time cutoff for international carrier arrangements.
Willingness to help load and receive trucks when needed.
Ability to input data into ERP computer system to generate packing slips.
Willingness to participate in team process improvement activities.
Willingness to notify lead or supervisor of any unsafe practices or areas for improvement.
Willingness to cross-train with Sr. Packaging Specialists.
Willingness to work with Sr. Packaging Specialist to get certified as a forklift operator.
Knowledge and application of the division’s quality policy and ISO 9001 procedures.
Ability to follow all standard operating procedures and notify appropriate personnel of any non-conformance.
Ability to assist in outbound procedure creation, updates, and requests.
Ability to perform miscellaneous duties and special assignments.
Ability to provide support for repackaging of incoming material for reconsolidations.
Ability to work with receiving to help move and store packaging material.
Maintenance of good housekeeping practices.

Responsibilities

Prepares product for packaging by verifying customer order and model numbers against the packing list to ensure accurate models and quantities are shipped to the correct customers. This includes verifying product against travelers, following shipping checklists, weighing, package forming, product inlay, labeling, strapping, pulling packing slips, and small parcel scheduling.
Packages product to specification using established methods and attaches address labels and carrier information stickers for timely and safe delivery.
Works with Logistics Specialists to generate proper paperwork for outbound shipments and can independently run clipper ship for domestic shipments and with assistance for international shipments.
Schedules pack completion based on production delayed orders and ready-to-ship reports.
Maintains strict packaging time cutoffs for international carrier arrangements.
Assists logistics and receiving in loading and receiving trucks when needed to expedite inbound and outbound functions.
Inputs data into the ERP computer system to generate packing slips.
Participates in team process improvement activities to enhance packaging design, process flow, communication, flexibility, efficiency, and customer responsiveness. Reports unsafe practices or areas for improvement to lead or supervisor.
Cross-trains with Sr. Packaging Specialists to learn efficient packaging methods.
Works with Sr. Packaging Specialist to become certified as a forklift operator.
Applies the division's quality policy and ISO 9001 procedures relevant to the area of responsibility. Follows standard operating procedures and reports non-conformance. Assists in outbound procedure creation and updates.
Performs miscellaneous duties and special assignments to support the team, including repackaging incoming material, assisting receiving with moving and storing packaging material, and other tasks as directed by the Packaging Lead or Supervisor.
