About The Position

The Packaging Scientist II works within Packaging R&D for Clorox’s Cleaning Business Unit, developing and delivering packaging solutions that improve consumer experience, support manufacturing excellence, and drive profitable growth. The role leads packaging development initiatives from concept through commercialization, balancing consumer needs, sustainability, performance, cost, manufacturability, supply chain requirements, and business strategy. The Scientist II works with increasing independence and navigates ambiguity when package designs, manufacturing approaches, technical requirements, or business needs are evolving. The position develops primary, secondary, club, and e-commerce packaging for new products, line extensions, and cost-saving initiatives. It applies engineering and scientific principles to address packaging, manufacturing, and supply chain challenges, assess technical risk, and identify mitigations. The role collaborates with cross-functional partners and external suppliers, communicates technical recommendations, and supports decisions through claims, demonstrations, and business cases. The Scientist II plans and conducts laboratory testing, pilot and manufacturing trials, and supplier qualifications. The position also develops specifications, test methods, packaging standards, and technical documentation, and supports scale-up and implementation across manufacturing facilities and supplier networks.
