About The Position

This role partners with business stakeholders to define and implement category strategy and drive the "One Abbott Procurement" vision and priorities. The Manager Procurement will be the primary point of contact for all global packaging category needs, nurturing stakeholder relationships by serving as a business partner, identifying critical business requirements, and providing sourcing and procurement services. The role involves influencing business initiatives, translating business vision into category strategy with an execution roadmap, and proactively identifying continuous improvement opportunities such as design for sourcing, innovation, process mapping, and cost efficiencies. The position also requires providing insights on developing and leveraging supplier capabilities, monitoring market dynamics, supplier competitive landscape, and pricing strategy across regions. The goal is to achieve an optimal balance between value for money and cost savings while ensuring quality and excellent stakeholder relationship management. The role includes owning and implementing purchasing strategies, fostering collaboration, assessing division needs to negotiate an accepted portfolio, driving Total Cost of Ownership reductions through analytics, measuring and tracking category performance, and partnering with procurement staff for cross-divisional initiatives. Additionally, the role involves leading initiatives across virtual teams globally and cross-culturally, and mentoring, training, and developing talent within procurement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in packaging, engineering, supply chain, or technical discipline.
  • 5+ year track record within procurement and supply chain management including engineering and/or technical category experience.
  • Strong project management skills. Ability to develop actionable implementation plans.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Primary & Secondary Packaging Knowledge
  • Some experience leading teams.
  • Relevant business process knowledge, as related to procurement and category management.
  • Strong interdisciplinary, intercultural, influence, and networking skills.
  • Some knowledge of markets by regions, international experience.
  • Strong influence and negotiating skills.
  • Strong contracting skills.
  • Experience with Supplier management.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Relevant certification desirable (e.g., CPSM, CPM, PMP).

Responsibilities

  • Primary point of contact for all global packaging category needs.
