About The Position

The Planner - Packaging manages the supply and disposal of packaging material, in cooperation with package suppliers or waste management companies. This role involves planning and organizing schedules with package suppliers to ensure timely delivery of packaging materials to production. It also includes coordinating the transportation, reuse, or disposal of packaging, managing returnable packaging, predicting and managing shortages, tracking containers, reviewing customer debits, coordinating container maintenance, monitoring corrugated packaging levels, auditing container usage, and assisting in the development of new packaging solutions.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or High school Diploma with demonstrated experience.
  • 2 years of experience in Packaging and Dunnage Coordinating.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office (excel, word, and power point).
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment visa or other sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize schedules with package supplier to provide production with packaging material in-time / in-sequence.
  • Cooperate with MRP Planner in production or supply chain to align schedules respectively.
  • Execute all respective administrative activities (i.e. ordering materials, maintaining database information, etc.).
  • Coordinate the transportation, re-use or disposal of packaging material.
  • Execute respective administrative activities with involved service providers.
  • Oversee returnable packaging before shipping to reduce expendable packaging and track in/out history by ship-to location.
  • Provide advanced notice of packaging shortages based on production schedules, creating and managing packaging accounts effectively.
  • Implement daily one-for-one container tracking in partnership with receiving/shipping teams and follow up with customers as needed.
  • Examine customer debits for container returns or packaging issues and dispute where necessary.
  • Coordinate the repair, disposal, and replacement of damaged containers to maintain optimal operational efficiency.
  • Monitor plant-level corrugated packaging levels, place regular orders and maintain a fleet of totes based on launch and volume changes.
  • Audit the use of containers in the plant, ensuring compliance with packaging instructions and addressing issues with Plant Management.
  • Assist packaging engineers in developing new packaging solutions for material launches, providing feedback on volume changes and necessary purchases.
  • Support the development of new WIP packaging and fleet calculations, ensuring coordination with industrial engineering for purchases.
  • Conduct daily audits of packaging instructions, provide team feedback on errors, and collaborate on developing WIP packaging instructions for outside processing.
  • Ensure proper return of containers from outside processing to maintain packaging integrity.
